So you’ve found an influencer you want to work with to promote your product. Great! Finding them is the first step, but the next step is getting them to work with you. After all, collaborating with an influencer is a two way street. They have to buy into you as much as you’ve bought into them. Here’s a few simple guidelines on using the right pitch as you slide into their DMs.
- Be brief. Influencers are extremely busy creating content and hustling to build their brand. Longer conversations can be saved for when they’ve signed with you. But for now, stick to the essentials.
- Be transparent. What do we mean by essentials? Tell them who you are, what you’re promoting, why you want to work with them, and of course, how you’ll compensate them.
- Personalize it. Show them that you’ve done your research, and are familiar (and a fan!) of their content.
- Explain why you think working together is a good idea. “Why me?” is a question we all have when we get a cold call. Answer that question right away, and melt the ice.
